You might have heard about it in a youtube video or something like that. But what is opensource? Opensource is the philosophy of software where the software is free to view, use, copy and redistribute. Essentially opensource software are just like every other piece of software, but unlike proprietary software, you can essentially download the source code and modify it to your needs and share or even sell it without any issue. So what is its importance you may wonder. Opensource software is used in most of our infrastructure and also parts of foss code is also used to make proprietary software. You might be using foss software like 7zip, vscode, chromium, etc. There is a whole operating system that is opensource like Gnu/Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD Personally, I switched from Windows to Linux six months ago. Since then, my experience has improved significantly, and it has completely changed my perspective on technology and how I interact with it.</p>
